Some staples found in diets of those who live in the African savanna include game, fruits, vegetables, and honey. While these foods are eaten throughout the savanna, many foods are specific to country, regions in a country, and availability.
Throughout most of Ghana, a food called fufu can be found, which is made from mashed yams or plantains. More foods that are abundant in Ghana include maize and fried yam sticks, which are similar to french fries. In the Central region of Ghana, dishes such as fante fante, a stew with fresh fish, and tatale, fried plantain cakes, are eaten.
Many of the foods eaten in the savanna have been influenced by colonization and trade, from long ago until now.
